What we believe

Twin Oaks is associated with the Southern Baptist Convention and the Southern Baptist Conservatives of VA. For our Statement of Faith we accept the Baptist Faith and Message of the Southern Baptist Convention.

The Baptist Faith and Message states concerning the church -

"A New Testament church of the Lord Jesus Christ is an autonomous (self-governing; independent) local congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel; observing the two ordinances of Christ, governed by His laws, exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word, and seeking to extend the gospel to the ends of the earth. Each congregation operates under the Lordship of Christ through democratic processes. In such a congregation each member is responsible and accountable to Christ as Lord."

Our 'Outreach Ministries' include participation in the Cooperative Program of the SBC as well as many other evangelistic efforts.

History of Twin Oaks

Twin Oaks first began in the early 90's when a small group of believers felt led to meet together for prayer.  As they continued to pray for God's guidance, it soon became evident that the Lord was leading them to establish a new church.  In 1992, this new church was given the name "Twin Oaks Baptist Church" and became a part of the Southern Baptist Convention and the Southern Baptist Conservatives of VA.  Since that time, buildings have been built, many more members have been added, numerous new ministries have been developed and Twin Oaks has become a flourishing church.

Mission of Twin Oaks

In response to the growth we continue to experience, in 2006 our church body chose a group of members to form a Long Range Planning Committee.  The primary goal was to carefully evaluate where we are as a church and where we sense the Lord leading us.  We considered both our strengths and our weaknesses.  Soon after the committee began meeting, it was agreed that our church needed a Mission Statement that could be used to help guide us in making any future decisions.

 MISSION STATEMENT

As Twin Oaks Baptist Church, we exist to:

  • experience God's majesty through genuine worship in praise, prayer, fellowship and service
  • proclaim God's Word as absolute truth through practical preaching, teaching and instruction
  • demonstrate God's love by identifying and meeting needs in our fellowship and community
  • share God's grace by introducing people to Jesus Christ beginning in this community and extending throughout the world,
  • and equip God's people for a life of service to God, to their church, and to their fellow man through Biblical training and discipleship,

that in all things, Christ might have the preeminence.

Future for Twin Oaks
