Greetings in the name of our Savior,
These are difficult days for our church family. Recently
a portion of God's eternal plan has been revealed to us
that none of us could have ever imagined. On Saturday
night, November 5 our Lord chose to take home a young
man we all loved so very much - Adam Spencer. For those
of you who knew Adam, you know how much he loved the Lord
and desired to be used by Him. For those of you who didn't,
allow me to take a moment and tell you a little about
him.
In the time I have been at Twin Oaks I have watched a
teenage boy grow into a young man. From week to week I
have witnessed his abilities developing and his commitment
to Christ deepening. God had gifted Adam tremendously
with the talent of music and each Sunday morning he began
our worship service by leading our congregation in Praise
and Worship. As someone recently said, "Sunday mornings
will never be the same." But Adam's impact upon our
church went beyond his musical abilities. With words of
encouragement Adam led our congregation to worship the
Lord with all our hearts; with a smile on his face and
a laugh that made us giggle, he greeted us and helped
us see the good in life; with words of sincerity he told
us that he loved us; and with an energy that was contagious
he helped us to be excited about life and about our salvation.
Just last summer Adam had recognized God's special call
upon his life and he had dedicated himself to full time
Christian Ministry. He didn't know where or when or how
but he was ready to do whatever it would take to see our
church, his school and our county come to know Jesus Christ
and to get on fire for serving Him.
"Why?" is the question that we find ourselves
asking. Why would the Lord take someone as special as
Adam from us? No one but the Lord can fully answer that,
but there is one thing that I know for sure - neither
the Lord nor Adam would want us to quit. At the young
age of 18 God called Adam home, but in our spirits we
know that before Adam left he passed the baton down to
us and now it's our turn to run the race. In my mind I
see Adam in heaven cheering us on - telling us to run
for Christ with all that we have in us. One day I hope
to cross that finish line and when I do I know that one
of the first faces I will see will be Adam's laughing
and smiling.
Please pray for us as we continue on. Pray for his mother
Cindy, his father Darrell, his sister Sarah and his brothers
Jared and Dustin. Pray for the rest of his family, our
church family, his youth group and his friends at Christian
Heritage Academy. Right now these words are so hard to
say but I still believe that they are true - "God
is good all the time and all the time - God is good."
